Gibberings fae a Ness man in NZ

Day 5 - Tauranga

Saturday 30th May - Today was mainly spent around the house and investigating the local area. Aidan was off down to the park first thing to get in some more skateboard practise. Later on, Aidan met in with a couple of the neighbours boys and spent a while playing football barefoot in the garden with them.

Each day, Aidan has been watering the lemon tree in the garden in his own unique way by urinating on it (thanks Nan!). I am just hoping that he hasn't overwatered it. (Picture: Aidan's lemon tree)

I took a walk up to Cherrywood (local shopping area) and then back down Otumoetai Road to see what there was. I was glad to find a dairy (corner shop), fish & chip shop/chinese takeaway and the local pub.

It was outside the pub that I got talking to a regular named Buggy who had recently lost his driving license. He had tried cycling for a few days before deciding, "Bugger that!". He had his pushbike modified somewhat to incorporate a 49cc engine (over 50cc you need a license). (Picture: Buggy's bike outside Cruzaz Bar)

It was at this point that I noticed the building next door to the local. Lo and behold, here is OBC!!!! What a great idea, my old workplace right next door to the pub! Unfortunately it turned out not to be. Him upstairs was just having a chuckle at my expense....

I decided to give the Otumoetai Baptist Church a miss and got me and Aidan some fish and chips for our tea. That night I finally got around to hooking the telly up to the trusty netbook.
