That's the medicals signed, sealed and sent off again. Hopefully this time they will be accepted without any problems.
Boomerang Medicals
Got the medicals sent away and then promptly got them returned. They are happy with the x-ray situation but a couple of pages had not been signed by the Doctor. Not his fault. I should have gone over the papers with a fine-tooth comb. I might then have seen the tiny boxes he was supposed to initial!
Dropped the papers off at the Doctors yesterday to be signed. Hopefully be able to get them tomorrow and bung them in the post again.
Slow Progress
Went to see the Doctor yesterday who amended the X-Ray slip as per NZ Immigrations instructions. Looks like the results from the blood tests aren't back yet so I will have to give them a call tomorrow to see if they have turned up.
No X-Ray required!
As I hadn't heard back from the Radiology Department, I gave them a call. It looks as if I won't need another X-Ray providing my doctor is happy that my health hasn't deteriorated. He can basically change the date on the existing X-Ray slip and all should be well.
X-Ray today...
...or maybe not. The Radiographer reckons that I might not need another X-Ray as the previous one was only taken 5 months ago and he would rather not give me another dose of radiation unless I need it. He tried to get in touch with Immigration NZ to no avail. I am expecting a phone call in the next couple of days which will inevitibly tell me that I need a new X-Ray.
Calling NZ Immigration
Decided to call NZ London today to make sure that the X-Rays were also needing updated. You can either call them on 09069 100 100 (which costs an extortionate £1.00 a minute) or you can call them on 01344 716199 (which charges you the National Standard Rate).
You are only supposed to use the 01344 number if calling from outwith the UK but it routes you through to exactly the same people anyway.
Another handy tip. Dial *9 as soon as you get through and you will avoid the lengthy recorded message!
Turns out I will need to resubmit a new X-Ray as well. :(
All is well...
...apparently. Back to the Doctor today and all seems to be showing up okay. He has taken a pile of blood to be sent off which should be back in a week or two. Next stop chest x-rays. Booked into the hospital on Wednesday to get them done.
Blood(y) Sugar
So, had my medical yesterday. Appears to be a problem with my blood sugar levels. Could have something to do with all the tea and coffee I drank at work yesterday!
Anyway, I have been asked to return on Monday to be tested again...
On a happier note, the Police Record came back today.
Grumble
Right, thats the application for another Police Certificate all signed and sent away. Looks like I'll be resitting the medical a week tomorrow. The x-rays will be after that sometime. :(
Bollocks
Well done to the folks that are handling the visa applications. We have had it returned already! Returned because the medicals are over the required 3 months. Buggery. This means that we will have to get new medicals (At a cost of £200+...again)!
Hopefully getting the new medical won't take too long but I fear that the x-rays (which also need to be resubmitted) will take longer.
Once all that has been done then it is likely that the Police certificate will have expired so it will also need to be renewed (at even more fecking expense!).
:(
Visa application
Well, here goes. Visa finally sent off today after a lot of hold-ups. I am sure that the whole application process could be made a lot easier. After filling out all the various forms and providing the evidence needed I am still unsure as to what category I have just applied.
Hopefully providing everything I could think of and copies of everything will make them happy.
Hiccups so far? Passport had to be renewed. Application costs a fortune!
