Gibberings fae a Ness man in NZ

Auckland!

Flying in to Auckland during the day (1150 landing time on Tuesday the 26th May) gave us the chance to see some amazing scenery on a long, slow approach.

Once on the ground, we disembarked and took full advantage of the duty free allowances. We then moved on to go through the tedious task of Customs clearance. I was expecting a lot of questions when we passed through and the conversation went as follows:-

Customs: "Hi there, can we see your passports please"
Us: "Yep" (handing them the passports)
Customs: "Ah, you're moving here."
Us: "Yep"
Customs: "Welcome to New Zealand!"

And that was about it. It was easier gaining entry to live in New Zealand than it was to get into my work at Sumburgh Airport most days!!!!

Stewart (Tania's dad) met us at the airport. He had planned for us to pop along some friends of his from Shetland on the way down to Tauranga for a cup of tea but they were out when we got there. Instead we went along his brother (Tania's uncle) and had a drink there instead.

When we arrived at the house, Tania's cousin had been along and left us cottage pie and pudding. All we needed to do was heat it up. She had also been nice enough to give us the gift of a Pohutukawa (Pictured) which we haven't managed to kill yet and a Pukeko (NZ bird) cuddly toy for Aidan.

After a couple of beers it was early to bed as we were all pretty shattered.
